what should I say about me?
should I say something funny or
something that makes you grumpy
To tell you, I am a guy with a tummy
and my face is round and chubby
surfing and reading is my hobby
when i sing it is all cacophony
offside is where i hit like ganguly
in football i would better be a goalie
i believe my nature is very friendly
dont know if someone thinks i am cranky
certainly my wife thinks i am lovely
Oh, time has come to make a curry
cyaa friends and thats all about me!!!!!

what is this life we have daily
Looks as if it is an endless monotony
wake up at six and get one selves ready
work late night until we become crazy
going back home feeling really dizzy
not much time to spend with family
All this we do for that few extra money
in weekends we spend that in a few jiffy
Dont we, really, look like a silly
when shall we start thinking clearly
spend more time with your dear family
make sure to keep yourselves healthy
otherwise its difficult to cross fifty
Let me tell you one more thing, my buddy
Life is not about fame and money
keep it simple, and you'll realize it fully!!

What is it like to stay in a room
all alone with no one to talk
To wake me up there is a clock
There is a television that i can watch
i have a telephone to talk to mom
I do have books that give me company
and i hug the pillows when i sleep
but how is it like to stay in a room?
all alone with no one to talk
is it good or ok or bad?
experience yourself to find that out!

There is beautiful island
in the middle of the ocean
waiting for someone to discover
no place like that one for ever

Dont judge the size of an ocean
standing in the shore
fly sky high or dive deep down
to know its vast expanse

Be patient during high tides
or during thunderstorms
Drop anchor and take some time
until everything is clear and calm

When the sky is clear
sail ahead with hope and trust
the island is waiting to be occupied
You´ll seen none like that for ever

My heart is like an ocean
and my love for you like an island
take some time to explore
and i hope you´ll know me for sure

A day without a sun
and the night without a moon
A land without trees
and the trees without a fruit
A body without life
and a life without a goal
A mother without her child
and a child without innocence
A man without his wife
and a wife without her husband
is never complete

GOD - The common man(Unnaipol oruvan)

I would like to share with you an incident that happened last Thursday(01/10/2009). It was a cloudy day in bangalore and was the last day of the week as the next day was a National day in India. As my brother had gone to UK a week back i decided earlier that i shall go to chennai and will bring my mom to bangalore as i didnt want her to stay alone in chennai. Also, as my brother is getting married, we had given the wedding invitation cards for printing which i had to go and collect. I wanted to leave from office by 4'o clock that day. But due to some commitments i could'nt leave before 5 from work. I had requested my friend Vijay to drop me at the bus stop, so that i could catch a bus to Vellore or Hosur(preferably vellore), from where i could alight on a bus to chennai.

He gladly agreed and when we came out of the office we saw a TNSTC bus going to vellore. I asked him to drop me at the signal which is around a kilometer from my office so that i could catch the bus there. He had a pulsar and we were in the service lane. The bus was moving at reasonably good speed. The bus had stopped at the signal but before we could reach there, the bus had started to move. From thereon it was a movie kind of chase where we tried everything to get in front of bus. At one point we were ahead of the bus and i signalled the driver to stop the bus. But i think he might have assumed that i was showing a "right turn" signal and so he ignored me. We kept on chasing the bus for atleast 5 kms and finally the bus stopped at a signal and i finally got into the bus. Thanks to Vijay i was really happy that i didnt miss the bus.

But i had another problem too. I had'nt recharged my mobile prepaid card and hence my mobile can receive incoming calls only when i am inside bangalore. Both my wife and mother was upset that they would not be able to call me to know my status during journey. I consoled both of them saying that its ok as the journey was only for some 6 hours. But both were quite angry with the fact that i was lazy enough not to recharge.

When i had got into the bus, i took the seat right next to the footboard from the rear. An young man was sitting next to me who i think was more or less of my age. He was listening to songs from his mobile and he had occupied most of the space in that two seater. I requested him to slightly move a bit so that i could sit comfortably. but he told me that the seat was drenched because of the rain and thats why he wont be able to move and provide me with more space. I accepted his response and i was infact happy that atleast i had a place to sit when others were standing. In between my mother and wife called me as they could contact me only till i reach Hosur.

Meanwhile,I was reading this book "A brief history of time" by Stephen Hawking and I didnt realize that i had reached Hosur. After some time i closed the book as i didnt want to read continuously. Then i heard this guy sitting next to me talking about recharging and activation of sim cards. I became slightly curious and i started to listen his conversation. He was getting a lots of calls and i was fairly sure that he had some business to do with mobile phones.

At around 7 the bus stopped at a place for a short break. It was somewhere before krishnagiri. It was a typical pitstop for state buses where the drivers and conductors get free food. There was one shop selling CDs and DVDs where the songs were played at highest possible volume. There were few shops selling eatables. I took a tender coconut drink, pop corn and "little heart" biscuits. After that i got into the bus. Then this guy(my neighbor in bus) also came in with a popcorn in his hand. Normally i am very shy person and i dont open up with a new person. But that day i took courage and started speaking with him. I asked him " are you doing any mobile business" for which he replied in affirmative. I asked him is it possible for him to recharge my vodafone number as i had zero balance. I told him that i shall pay once it is recharged. Immediately he called up his friend and gave my number for recharge. Within two minutes everything was done and i was extremely happy. I thanked him and gave him the money immediately.

We then started having a conversation and i came to know that he was a sixth standard dropout. He was basically from vellore and now has a mobile shop near majestic in bangalore. In our conversation he was talking more and i was more of a listener. he was enthusiastically talking about his business and i asked him a few things here and there. After an hour i started reading the book again and he was listening to some songs. After that we didnt have any conversation and finally when we reached bangalore i thanked him again and we bade farewell.

Now the main reason for me to write this article is slightly philosophical. I am still astonished and surprised that how this particular day that i didnt recharge my phone and how i wished that i could do that somehow. And what a coincidence that this guy(whose name i didnt bother to ask)who was sitting next to me was doing mobile business and he immediately helped me out(even though he took money for that). Sometimes when i contemplate on these kind of incidents or situations my belief in the supreme power called GOD is reinforced further. Some of you can call this is a coincidence or luck. But i choose the former as i believe in GOD. The conclusion that i arrive out of this incident is that GOD is there always around us and ready to help. He exists in every human being. He is infact one among us. He is the common man who is every bit like us. But we ignorant people does not have the eyes to see the GOD and we always look at sky for a Divine being with four hands. So please respect every human being. Dont hurt anyone intentionally, dont be jealous of anyone and help everyone in whatever ways possible. If you could do that, others shall see the GOD in you.

Boy or Girl

In India, when a baby is expected in a family, most of the times people prefer to have a boy to girl. when one analyze the reason for this preference, we find that the reasons are many. One of the reasons for such a disparity is the existence of a dowry system which requires the family to pay out a great deal of money when a female child is married. For a poor family, the birth of a girl child can signal the beginning of financial ruin and extreme hardship. Also ours is a patrilineal society. Patrilineal systems depend on the principle of passing on property and status from father to legitimate son. Hence people prefer to have a son. Then there is this Indian marriage where a girl has to leave her parents once she is married. It is the obligation of a son to take care of parents and not for a daughter. So if parents don't have a son, then their old age will be difficult. So there are many reasons for having a son than a daughter.

What is more disturbing is that the mother is blamed if a child of preference is not born. I had come across a news in "The Hindu" that a woman, not yet 20, Pazhaniamma, was charged with throwing her baby girl into a well. She had been taunted and abused for not producing a heir to the family; the only way she could satisfy family and social norms was to destroy the `non-heir' that she had produced. That could be one of the worst things to happen for a woman who has no control over the sex of the child she delivers.

One thing what i would like to add here is that the miseries of woman are always because of another woman. It is only women who blame another woman if the she doesnt deliver a male child. Anyways you notice all these only in rural India and this has reduced to a large extent in Urban India. Infact these days urban Indians prefer to have girl babies as they have now given up the thought that the boys will take care of them in their old age ;). Also they have realized that these days woman control a man more than the other way around with the powerful weapon in the world called "tears" (croc tears may be)!! :D

When we understand how the sex of a child is determined, then no one would blame a woman for that. For this we need to have a little understanding of science. Genes are the basic unit of genetic information, composed of sequences of DNA. Genes determine the nature of every cell in the body and how it will function. Humans have some 100,000 genes. These gense are arranged in specific locations and in a specific order along 46 chromosomes, rod shaped portions of DNA, that are organized in 23 pairs of two chromosomes. In each of the 23 pairs, one is provided by the mother and the other by father at the time of fertilization. Through a cell replication process called mitosis, all the eventual cells of the body contains the same 46 chromosomes provided by the maternal and paternal gametes(sex cells). Each chromosome is similar to the other member of its pair with one exception - the 23rd chromosome which is the one that determines the sex of the child. In females the 23rd pair consists of two matching relatively large X-shaped chromosomes, appropriately identified as XX. In males on the other hand, the members of the pair are dissimilar. One consists of an X-shaped chromosome, but the other is a small Y shaped chromosome. This pair is identified as XY.

Because the production of gametes involves the receipt of only half of the chromosome pairs in each parent, the ovum from female will receive one of the two X chromosomes from the 23rd pair. However because the male contributes either an X or Y chromosome, the sperm will contain either an X or Y from the 23rd pair.

The ultimate result of this process is that when an ovum and a sperm meet at the time of fertilization, the ovum is sure to carry and X chromosome, but the sperm will carry either an X or Y chromosome. If the sperm contributes an X chromosome the child will have an XX pairing on the 23rd chromosome and will be a female. However if the sperm contributes a Y chromosome, the result will be an XY pairing and the child will be a male.

It is clear from this process that it is the father's sperm that determines the sex of the child. Now don't blame a woman if she delivers a girl instead of boy as she has no control over the sex of her new born.

Ananda the absent minded.

People have said that i am a guy with good memory..but somehow i have this weakness of absent-mindedness!! I shall share with you an incident which happened last month which i can safely say was the height of my absentmindedness

That was one saturday when i had to go to office for some work which i had to complete urgently. I was not that interested in going that day but still i had to. So i was very lazy in getting ready and started leaving home only at around 11. I also wanted to get my Car's RC book xeroxed so i had kept that in my pocket. Only when i went clost to my car(it was parked some 100 mts away from my home), i realised that i forgot to get the car key. i went back again to get the car key. Then i opened the car trunk for whatever reason i dont remember now and i kept the RC book in the trunk and closed it. I went to office in my car . The fuel level was very low, the dial gauge almost close to the reserve capacity. I thought that i shall fill the petrol when i come back from office. When i reached office i had completely forgotten that the RC book was in trunk. My department is in the 12th floor of our building. I went directly to the place the copier was kept and opened by bag only to find that the RC book was missing. I had no clue where i had left it. so i called back home to find out if the RC book is there or not. My mom was searching everywhere and she couldnt find it. Then i thought of going down and check for it in the car. I was checking everywhere in the dashboard but i couldnt find. only then i realized that i had opened the trunk before leaving. So i thought of checking there also. Atlast i found my RC book there!! Then i went upstairs again and started doing my work...after an hour or two, when i was done with my work, i returned home. on the way, i stopped at a petrol filling station which is around a kilometer from my home and filled the tank full!! When i was tried to take the purse out of my back pocket, to my horror,i realized that i forgot to bring my purse. I informed the person that i shall park my car here and will go and get the money. I didnt want to tell at home that i had filled petrol in my car and then found that i didnt have my purse with me!! I said to mom that i am going to get newspaper from shop. She asked me about the car and i said i have parked it far away as there was no parking place. I paid the money and came back in the car. I purposely parked it little bit away from my house. Only after sometime when everything was done, i informed that all these things had happened and we had a good laugh over it!! Still there are many anecdotes like these which i shall share at appropriate times!!

You know the value of a job well done.

Your Life's Path: Here are clues to what fate has in store for you. It indicates the type of encounters, events, and opportunities you are likely to experience along your physical life path. Number: 9

Your path is philanthropy, loving service to the peoples of Earth. You have an impressive personality and power to influence others. At times you are somewhat naive in your anticipation of the joy you believe is coming.

Your spiritual sensitivity and holistic feelings for humanity encompass a wide range -- compassion, generosity, sympathy, tolerance. You have a vivid imagination.

You easily and joyfully serve your fellow man, tending to place others before yourself and give your Love, sympathy, help, and understanding without stint. You would like to see perfection in marriage, self, and the whole world.

Your opportunities are among emotional, artistic, and inspirational people, in fields that serve broad segments of mankind.

This Year's Path: Here is what you are likely to encounter this year -- your feelings, your predominant perspective, and the type of situations, circumstances, and opportunities you tend to attract during the calendar year. Number: 1

More so than usual, you feel desire to move forward, to improve situations, to assert your individuality, and to get on with life. Reach for opportunities and they will come to you.

Life is beginning anew! Now is the time to put your best foot forward; to take up a hobby or other activity that will freshen your thinking and broaden your general activities; to look ahead.

This is an active year with many decisions to make. Your affairs are making a new start. The next nine years' experience will depend a great deal on what you do and don't do this year. It calls for strength of purpose, clear thinking, and listening to your inner voice.

Next Year's Path. Number: 2

Harmonious associations are very important for you this year. The year's success and good results will be obtained through diplomacy, cooperation, tactfulness, and good relationships. It is a year for receiving and sharing rather than aggressively pursuing your own way.

Your intuition and emotions are enhanced this year.

It is a busy year, with endless demands on your time. It is easier to work with others rather than doing things by yourself.

Your plans and developments may experience periods of delay. No need to worry about that. Things move slower this year.

The year can revitalize your peace of mind. It is a good time to strengthen your friendships.

Last Year's Path. Number: 9

This year you realize completion and/or fulfillment of some of your dreams. During the year you can let go of the old and undesirable to make way for the new and worthwhile.

Things that have been lagging behind want to be finished up this year. Some things seem to finish themselves. In general, this is not a good year to begin new projects.

Be tolerant, compassionate, and forgiving, and this can be one of the most wonderful years of your life. Keeping your mind open for broader interests and larger activities seem more natural to you this year. Make your interests more of a universal, rather than personal, nature.

Love affairs get your attention, maybe even your own.

You find yourself cultivating music, writing, and other arts, and expressing love to the many and toleration of all. The "brotherhood of man" is your keynote. Respond to the urge to do good works.

And there is more...

The above is a basic numerology reading. But there are many more aspects that haven't been covered.

Examples: lucky numbers, power number, the essences, challenges, pinnacles.

Kavithai..kavithai #8

God came down to earth
at the very moment i was born
He was my mother
who showered love on me
He was my father
who was my role model
He was my brother
who was my partner in pranks
He was my teacher
who taught me about the world
He was my best friend
who was there for ever
He was my boss
Who was my mentor
He was my junior
who listened to whatever i said
He was my wife
who was behind my every success
He was my son
who was all my happiness
He was my soul
who was my guiding light
He was there all through my life
not leaving me for a single moment
Alas, only had I known this truth earlier
i would never have run all around!!

Kavithai..kavithai #7

A new day has started
with the first rays of sun
warming up the cold air
The beautiful smell of earth
and the fresh air all around
makes one young and rejuvenates the mind
As the time passes by
it is the noise of vehicles all around
the clear skies replaced
by the dark smokes of the lifeless morons
with in a short span of time
There is no sign of that beautiful dawn
the wait has begun to live another day
for that fresh whiff of air
Oh God, when you will make man more saner
that he should keep our mother earth
cleaner and better.

Genesis of thoughts - Bhagavat Gita

I was just reading the third chapter of Bhagavat Gita which talks about karma yoga. as you might be knowing Lord Krishna talks about Karma yoga, Jnana Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. In these karma yoga is the lowest level and bhakti yoga is the highest form through which one can have the vision of true Self. Jnana yoga is in between these two. Karma yoga is having the vision of self through work, Jnana yoga through knowledge and Bhakti yoga through devotion.

Lord Krishna tells Arjuna that Jnana yoga is superior compared to yoga but at the same time asks him to fight the war. when Arjuna asks why i should fight war(karma yoga) rather than go to forest and meditate(Jnana yoga), Krishna tells him that even though people are qualified for Jnana yoga, still they should perform karma yoga for the sake of others who are good enough to perform only karma yoga and not fit for Jnana yoga. Because what ever a Great Man does others follow. if some one who is qualified for Jnana yoga performs the same, the other men who are not fully qualified will try to follow the same and end up ruining themselves.

After reading this i really wondered about two things. One is about the three yogas and other in which Lord say Karma yoga should be done even if qualified for Jnana yoga. I was thinking about these two with the present day. I was comparing our education system with the three yogas. In order to gain knowledge about something, we first need to work on it physically, then if we study the theory we will gain knowledge about it and then after gaining knowledge about the same you can do the research and gain complete knowledge. If we stick to this procedure, our education system might improve a lot!! our school education system is such that there is more importance given to theory and very less to practicals. if we could change this and give more importance to practicals, then more children can understand a lot about what they study. Even in technical education, we have diploma, engineering and phd. Majority wants to get into engineering. This is akin to performing jnana yoga ignoring karma yoga!!! since there is less knowledge people ends up completely ruining their life.

Anyways there is so much to learn in Bhagavat Gita which can be applied in practical life. But i feel terribly sad when some people say that bhagavat gita should not be kept or read at home since it creates tensions for that family as it was first told by Lord Krishna at Battle field. What an Irony!! Bhagavat Gita is the most sacred of all Hindu scriptures and if people dont read that because of some stupid superstitions what else they will read.

Taliban - The Cancer of the world

Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells display uncontrolled growth (division beyond the normal limits), invasion (intrusion on and destruction of adjacent tissues), and sometimes metastasis (spread to other locations in the body via lymph or blood).

Now replace the cells with peoples and Cancer with Taliban. Then you will get to know what is the dreaded disease that has affected the world!!! The world is affected with Talibanism and like cancer, this disease cannot be cured completely, only it can be controlled.

Superstitions!!!

I was just reading through a thread in orkut where people were discussing on whether a woman should Vishnu Sahsranamam or not?? there was a few posts which condemned women folk from reciting VS. I feel its really absurd asking woman not to recite the stotram. Afterall it only has the 1008 names of Lord Vishnu. Will God punish woman just because she recited HIS names?? Strange. This is just one of the many superstitions that i have come across. People also say that woman should not chant Vedic Mantras..Infact, One of the mantra drishtas(author of hymns) has been a sage woman named Gargi, who questions Yajnavalkya in Brihadaranyaka Upanishad. Its anyway true that this is mentioned in our Shastras that women should not recite vedas. But if one applies some commonsense he will get to know why this is said. Vedas are something which cannot be learned very easily. It needs a lot of time and in those days if people wanted to learn, they had to stay at gurukulam and learn for years. If both boys and girls started learning vedas, who will take care of the household?? now some feminist might ask why men cant do that. ok, even if we take that men does the household chores and let women chant vedas..but still women has to give birth to child, a duty which cannot be passed on to men(fortunately or unfortunately )..During that period and after child birth will she keep chanting vedas or will she take care of the child??? The people during vedic age had really good intention in mind, when they asked women not to chant vedas...But the views were completed distorted(I think this was again a handiwork of british and so called orientlist)to show that there was a discrimination against women!!!

Before concluding i just want to say one thing. Dont believe blindly on traditions. Apply some logic and think the reason why somethings were done in a different way!!!!

Existence of Demigods

Chapter 7 -23

Lord Krishna:"Limited is the fruit gained by these men of small understanding who worship the other gods. At the most they go to them(the gods). But only My devotee comes to ME"

Since Lord Krishna is the supreme reality we can conclude a few things
1. Existence of Demigods is accepted ( By demigods i mean only agni, vayu, varuna, indra, Siva, brahma..not necesarliy in that order..any discussion about the so called demigods like kalki and amma amrita are pointless and not worth discussing)

2. Gaining of fruits, though limted, from these lesser Gods is also confirmed from this verse.

3. The last sentence is also very important. "Only My devotee comes to ME"... here "My devotee" should not be considered as one who just worships Him but one for whom there is nothing except Lord Narayana. This has been reiterated again and again by our AchAryas also. A better example would be of Gajendravaradhan, Where Lord Narayana Saves the elephant only after it abandons everything and asks for saranagathi!!!!

I hope everyone accepts the presence of Demigods, since it has been confirmed by Lord Krishna Himself in Gita. I want to ask a question now!! If the existence of Demigods are accepted, then what was the purpose of their Creation????? When we have some duties to be performed{varnashrama dharma}, similarly they also have some duties to performed right??? In that surely one of their duties is granting boons to us. If Brahma had not given boon to Hiranyakashipu there was no purpose for Lord Narayana to take the avatar of Narasimha...When Lord NArAyana has given that power to demigods of granting boons, then he would also have given conditions on when to give boons..right?? that would be only when we worship those specific demigods!!!

So its very clear that we can and we have to worship demigods if we need to attain some fruits..but there is certain limitation here. For saranagathi can only be given by Lord Narayana and no one else!!!!

If people are hell bent on not worshipping demigods then they have to stop doing all brahminical rituals since we worship agni, vayu, surya, varuna, vishwaksenar et al in that!!! And they also have to explain why they have temples for our PurvAchAryas who are also considered as demigods!!!

Slumdog millionaire

The movie which tells the rags to riches story of a mumbai chaiwala is the one which is creating high tides all over the world. It has already won the Golden Globe awards for the Best Original Score for "Jai Ho" by our own A.R.Rahman and also for the best direction and screenplay. It has received 10 Nominations in Oscars, the second highest for this year, and in that 3 of them is for A.R.Rahman. All these are good enough to attract the cinegoers of our country to watch this movie in theatre, even though a few might still prefer to watch it in pirated CDs. I belong to the former category and went to theatre to watch the movie for two reasons. One is obviously for A.R and the other one is to see how the englishmen have handled an Indian Story. As you might be knowing by now, this movie is based on a Novel Q&A written by the Indian Diplomat Vikas Swaroop.

The scenes which still stay in my mind are the initial chasing of children by the Pandus-constables are called by that name in amchi mumbai- which was thoroughly enjoyable mainly due to the music of AR Rahman, the scene in which Jamal meets his old friend who was blinded was extremely emotional and the song sequence "Jai Ho" specially for A.R again!!!

As far as review of this movie is concerned, from the western perspective, it reinforces the belief that India is still a third world country where you can find slums everywhere, people even jump into shit to get a glimpse of their bollywood heros, Cheating and prostitution the main business, etc..etc..From a nationalistic perspective, the movie portrays India in a very bad light, the Hindus are shown as terrorists who attacks the muslims and also as people who doesnt allow the fellow citizen's to come up in life(Anil kapoor the actor -anchor of the show is shown in that negative shade)...

The things that has to be accepted is that India has large number of people living in slums, yeah, there is gruesome child labour like what was portrayed in the movie and also it is indeed known that poor girls are forced into prosititution..also in the same breath it has to be noted that, Indians dont play cricket in the runway of an airport, we dont jump into shit which was an over-exaggeration and also India is not only about slums, but also a country which has a fast developing economy, has lot of good things and and there are a few good men and women too!!!! the good thing what we need to take from the movie is that they have highlighted only the bad things about india ignoring the good ones!!! We, people of india, should acknowledge that what was shown in movie is real and should act fast in eradicating this!!!!Also before blaming the westerners for portraying India in a bad manner, it should be remembered that the movie is based on a Novel written by an Indian diplomat..

One strong reason i believe this movie is a big hit is because the western world is in need of lots of hope, confidence and motivation to bring themselves out from this shit called recession and what better than the movie where this child who comes out of the shit to meet his hero ends up being a Millionaire!!!

Life in Pune - 1

One year in pune

This is something I wished to write a long time back..but due to my laziness it took such a long time before I decided to pen it down today. What I am going to write now is one of the most beautiful phases in the short span that I have lived, but the memories that I carried over from this one year has been enormous. Before writing this down, I would like to tell the reason for this one year being gr8. The main reason being unfortunately, i had a very boring and dull college life. More explanations may not be needed if I mention the name of the college where I did my mechanical engineering. Its none other than the notoriously strict Sathyabama engineering college in Chennai. I still rue the decision to study in this school(its not a college, anyway) where neither did I learn too much about mechanical engg nor I enjoyed my life as a teenager bunking classes, watching movies or flirting with babes!!! The only good thing that happenend in those four years was getting to know my good friend Isaiah Ranjith Kumar. Otherwise there is nothing much to cherish… I might write a separate blog on the life in sathyabama later, right now I ll stick to the topic on hand!! Another reason why this one year has been memorable is because, whatever I have achieved till now is because of what I have learned in that one year. Before starting to write about that one year, I would like to thank my previous employer for providing with this opportunity, my friends who stayed with me in pune for one year who made my stay memorable and also my trainers Mr. Manoj Chauhan and Mr. Siegfried Mueller. There is one more trainer whom I don’t want to thank, because he was the only villain in that whole one year(chuckles)!!!

How it all started

I was one of those unlucky fellows who completed the degree in 2002 when US was reeling under severe recession. There were not many campus interviews at that time and since me be an exceptionally average student, I couldnt go past GDs in the very few campus recruitments that I attended. After completing my college, I was happily sitting at home waiting for an opportunity to come. Preparing resumes and attending interviews were the main job for me in that whole one year!! In between I had got a job in one mannar & sons company with a pay of 1000 bucks a month. But I didn’t work there for more than a day. After almost a year, I got an opportunity to work in sundaram motors in Chennai as a trainee!!! I was asked to undergo training in Mercedes Benz Workshop. That was my first tryst with a passenger car and the association still continues. That’s where I came to know about the one year training held at the Mercedes company in pune for engineering graduates sponsored by the dealerships. The name of the course was mechatronics and the main idea of the training was the train the engineering graduates to diagnose the complex electrical and electronical faults in the Mercedes Cars. Since diagnosing a complaint required system knowledge, quantative ability and knowledge of using diagnose testers which were in English, it was not possible to train the technicians who were already working in the workshop. So the good souls in the Mercerdes plant decided to take engineering graduates from each dealership and train them in diagnosing the complaints. This is one decision which they will rue later!!
